生き甲斐
Ikigai.

A lifestyle that strives to balance the spiritual with the practical.

This balance is found at the intersection where your passions and talents converge with the things that the world needs and is willing to pay for.

A reason for being.
The French call it raison d’être.
The most important reason or purpose for someone or something’s existence.
What keeps you going? What centres you? What drives you to wake up every morning?

Today, Sengkang Sound Connect multiplies. Someone asked me what I feel about it. Their POV was “again?! So fast?!”
Well, to me, for one, His ways and thoughts are way higher than mine.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
Psalm 127:1 NIV

He is the Master Builder so just look at what the Lord has done!

And two, this group of champions has grown. So much. Not just talking about numbers, but in their depth. They’ve walked through changes in leadership not just once, but 3 times. They’ve had to learn to journey with one another, to choose vulnerability and honesty over fear and facades.
I’ve seen and heard stories of how the lonely found family, the broken find healing, the crowd becoming carriers, individuals becoming family.

Multiplication just means now we have more room for people to find home, be loved, and to grow together.

And three, so proud of Michael, Ivan, Jezzy and Abi, we value your ‘yes’. The journey of leadership is as challenging as it is rewarding. One day they might know, but the truth is they might never know, how much each of you have given or are giving. But He knows and He sees you.

So if you ask me right now, what does 生き甲斐 or raison d’être mean to me?
Right now?
Seeing how God transforms lives and having the privilege to be part of it. To see people flourish as they get connected, equipped and empowered as they bring the reality of God to their world.
Yes, indeed. This is home.
