Today’s !Audacious devotional is on another word for praise – today was Tehillah (New Songs)
TEHILLAH – “a spontaneous new song. Singing from a melody in your heart by adding words to it. This refers to a special kind of singing. It is singing unprepared, unrehearsed songs.”
The entire book of Psalms in Hebrew is titled ‘Tehillim’ which is just the plural form of this one word ‘tehillah’.
This used to trouble me.
I just felt really insecure I guess about making up words and actually singing them out loud. But with time, you tend to build up confidence – bit by bit. Nowadays, it’s getting easier. And the words are starting to flow. Loving it.
Sometimes the praise that rises up from within just has to come out. Out of the overflow comes praise.
Give me an overflowing heart, from which praise abounds.
Yesterday was slightly draining. For once in a long time, I actually felt like I might lash out. But… self-control.
And this thought came into mind when I got home and chilled for a bit:
Some days you just need a bit more grit. And a bit more grace.
I surprise myself again.
It’s true – sometimes you just need to take what life throws at you and learn to be gracious. Choosing not to throw in the towel and just blow up in someone’s face. Choosing to hold your tongue. Choosing to take a moment. Choosing to mutter a quiet prayer under your breath for some strength and love.
