The New Dawning of A New Daring

Was listening to !Audacious Church’s podcast where Mark was preaching about the New Dawning of a New Daring… good decision for a Sunday pick-me-up.

We are able to approach the throne of grace with confidence (Heb 4:!6) because of what Jesus did for us and as a result of that, God has my back. Imagine that. God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth + the Almighty, has my back.

The Glory of the New Covenant (2 Cor 3:7-12)

Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

In the past, the people only had second-hand experiences with God through the priest… but today, we have full access. We can approach the throne of grace anytime, anywhere. It’s like we have been repositioned to go out and step out in boldness and audacity. With the promises of God, I am empowered. If God is for me, who can be against me?

Mark was using the experiences of Peter and Paul in Acts to illustrate how they were trembling/fearful, but they stood up in confidence. Because they knew who had their backs.

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. (1 Cor 2:2-5)

Made Alive in Christ

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph 2:1-10)

Excites me, you know. That God has daring feats and bold things prepared in advance for us to do. That God includes us. That He loves us that much that we are included in His masterplan for His beloved.

and I believe you’re still part of it.

speak boldness into my spirit, Lord. I want to be a vessel, an instrument in Your plan.
